The Board and Superintendent approved their 2026-2027 goals both of which include the sale of the vacant properties (carry over goals from 2025-2026).
-
Also of interest was an amendment to the purchase agreement for the sale of Metcalf which pushes out the closing date for another year (to 6/30/2027). That item was on the agenda prior to the fire at Metcalf last night. Even though it was embedded in the consent agenda, I thought the fire might have prompted a discussion or a few questions. It didn't.

Finally, there was an item of new business that designated funds from the sale of the parking lot parcel at Diamondhead to the "Demolition of Vacant Buildings"

Project Updates as of July 6:
Crews may be in the project area this week removing sections of curb where marked in the phase two limits. Not all curb will be replaced, only the sections that are marked.
The contractor will also lay out and set up a temporary water supply in the phase two limits. This is a separate above-ground water supply system that provides clean, safe and reliable drinking water while the existing watermain is replaced. Once the new watermain is in place and tested, crews will switch service back and remove the temporary system.
Watermain work is expected to start next week.
